My dad just got a job offer in Australia so my family is going to be moving from Washington state to Australia. We'll be moving to a small town in Victoria that's a couple hours drive from Melbourne. I'm out of school now and interested in getting my bachelor's degree while I'm there. Is there any helpful advice for a newby to Australia - especially one who hasn't traveled much and would like to go to an Australian university?

Hey awesome! im a melbourne girl you will love it here!

well one thing you have to get used to is here in victoria we are notorious for our weather you really get the four seasons in one day.

winter is really cold but it dosent snow only in the mountains. summer is really really hot! our hottest day last summer was 48 degrees celcius and that was the day we had all the wild fires in the country victoria.

what is the name of the town in victoria you will be moving to we have a lot of unis all over the state!

Looks like Elaine is just south of Ballarat. Which means Ballarat uni could be good for you. Here is a link to VCAT (this is the open days page, so it lists all uni's etc), which is the place that manages territory admissions. Just for your information, Ballarat is about 2hrs drive or train trip from Melbourne.

I think University of Ballarat is the closest to Elaine. Here's its website:

And here's Elaine's site...it might help you become more familiar of the place before you arrive.

One difference you will notice between US and Australian unis - is that most Australian students dont move away for uni - they go to the one near to them.
